Regional Engineering Manager

Giles Flythe Engineers, Inc. is continuing to grow and is looking for a Regional Engineering Manager for a coastal office. This position can be anywhere from Myrtle Beach, SC, to Wilmington, NC. This newly created position will oversee the growth of the office and regional operations. This position will entail leadership responsibilities, including identifying growth opportunities, developing solid relationships, hiring and training engineering staff, and maintaining office and project budgets.

The work you will perform:

  • Serve as project manager for multiple projects, creating schedules and ensuring projects comply with specifications, timelines, and budgets. These projects include:
  • Capital reserve studies and transition studies.
  • Commercial real estate due diligence inspections.
  • On-site field investigations and structural assessment of existing homes, buildings, or structures.
  • Forensic structural engineering evaluations and reports.
  • Residential and commercial structural design.
  • Construction administration projects.
  • Execute business development strategies for the region by attending industry and networking events and developing relationships with existing and potential clients, associations, and business networks. No cold calling-related activities.
  • Administrative responsibilities including office administration, coordinating with clients and internal team members on projects.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate in writing and verbally with clients, including homeowners, property owners, contractors, engineers, and architects.
  • Routine travel will be expected to project locations within the region.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Minimum ten years of related engineering experience. Experience preferably in structural or forensic engineering.
  • Professional Engineering license. Preferably in South Carolina.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to interact with clients daily.
  • Proven technical writing and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Team player attitude and willingness to adapt and learn new responsibilities and tasks.
  • Willing to inspect crawl spaces, attics, basements, and roofs. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb and balance.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD.
  • Valid Driver's license with a good driving record.
